What changes when people get the right support
A small business owner sought support after receiving a complaint and was unsure how to respond fairly without worsening the situation. Through early triage and practical advisory support, the matter was quickly clarified, immediate next steps were implemented, and the issue was managed before it escalated into a larger team disruption or formal claim.
Managed early, resolved quickly
A community services team had been dealing with months of unresolved tension among key staff, and communication had broken down to the point that the wider team was feeling the strain. Through independent mediation and structured facilitated conversations, the parties reached a workable agreement, communication improved, and the team was able to refocus on service delivery.
Tension resolved, team refocused
Obligations met, risks addressed
A not-for-profit organisation faced growing pressure within its workforce, including unclear roles, team tensions, and concerns about psychosocial work health and safety obligations. A practical psychosocial risk review helped identify key risk areas, clarify priorities, and put workable controls and communication steps in place, enabling the organisation to strengthen systems and reduce the likelihood of similar issues recurring.
Meet the Founder
Sue Batten
After over 20 years of leading people and services in mental health, disability, community, and other people-focused settings, I understand how quickly workplace issues can affect leaders, teams, and the broader organisation. I founded Resolution House to provide organisations with independent, practical support when conflict, people issues, or psychosocial concerns begin to affect teams, leaders, and the wider workplace.
My work focuses on bringing clarity, fairness, and structure to situations where conflict, people issues, or psychosocial concerns begin to affect the workplace. I have formal training in psychological science, conflict management, public health, and work health and safety, and I hold AMDRAS accreditation as a mediator and conflict coach.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Urgent matters are prioritised where possible. If something significant has happened and you need support quickly, I will aim to respond as promptly as I can and clarify the most appropriate next step.
-
Start with a confidential triage call. In 30 minutes, I can listen to your situation, help clarify the issue, and recommend the most appropriate pathway, whether that is Quick Help, Resolve, Reset, Comply, Training and Capability Building, or a mix of services. There is no cost and no obligation.
-
No. Some services are one off or short term, while others involve a more structured process. The scope, pricing, and likely timeframe will always be explained before you proceed, so you understand exactly what is involved and can choose the level of support that best suits your situation.
-
Confidentiality is a key part of this work. How information is managed depends on the specific service, as each service has its own confidentiality arrangements. For example, mediation has a formal confidentiality framework, while advisory or review tasks may involve agreed reporting back to the organisation. I clearly explain confidentiality at the start of each engagement, including any boundaries, so you understand how your information will be handled.
-
Yes. I work face-to-face across South East Queensland and deliver services online Australia-wide.
-
Yes. Resolution House works with small to medium organisations, as well as larger ones that need independent support. Many clients come to me because they don’t have a dedicated internal HR or people and culture function, or because they want an external, impartial perspective. If you have people and a workplace issue to manage, the service is designed to help.
-
No. Resolution House works primarily with small to medium organisations across a range of sectors, with particular expertise in health, community, disability, and other people intensive settings.
-
After the triage call, I will recommend the most suitable next step based on your circumstances. This might be a one off advisory session, a structured process like mediation or facilitation, a psychosocial review, training, or another tailored form of support. The aim is to clarify and make the pathway practical from the outset.
-
Yes. In many cases, the best time to seek support is before a matter turns into a formal complaint, claim, or larger team issue. Early help can clarify options, reduce escalation, and encourage a more practical and proportionate response.
